According to the 2010 census, there are a little more than 5000 people that consider themselves cossacks in the Krasnodar region in Russia. The Kuban is only in the third place in the number of cossacks in Russia, but the revival of the cossacks is almost the first priority in this region. There were "cossack squads" created for patrolling the city, cossack classes were opened, festivals of folk culture are held, there are also Kuban Cossack army and Cossack choir here.
State Exhibition Complex "Ataman" is another means on the way to the revival of the cossacks. Eight years ago the complex was established by the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism and the Department of Property Relations of the Territory. Today it is one of the largest open-air museums in Russia. However, there are reports that it is held at the expense of state employees, who are taken there.
